We did it.
We braved I-5 North traffic on a Friday afternoon...all to make my summer dream of sitting in King's Court at the Mariners game come true.
I mean, who doesn't love a baseball game on a warm summer night?
I'd like to thank the great Katie VH for putting the idea in our heads. She sent me an image of the flyer announcing the King himself was pitching last Friday night. A few more texts and a quick convo with Taylor, and we decided we were in. And, of course, our favorite not-yet-five-month-old had to get in on the action, dragging her parents to the game, too. This was, after all, Lily's fourth M's game. How many babies can say that?
Last-minute plans typically end up being the best plans, and this one was no different.
Highlights included receiving a text from another college friend letting me know she saw Lily on TV at the game...swigging giant Pacifico beers reminiscent of Friday nights at the Coug in Pullman...shouting "K-K-K-K-K-K-K-K-K-K" along with the rest of the Court...forcing my eyes to stay open through 13 innings...post-game pizza, also reminiscent of college...the old standard G. Lagreid breakfast in the morning...and a fantastic family hike up at Snoqualmie Pass before we headed back home to Portlandia.
Seattle. I love you. I love you for so many reasons, but mostly because of the fantastic friends we are fortunate to have living in your Emerald City.
