Must-do fall festivities

A Susan Branch newsletter inspired me to cultivate a little list of fall must-do's (is it dos or do's?).

I've got the month of November to check off these bad boys. And, in no particular order...
  • Visit a local farm for cider donuts
  • Run the Wildwood trail while most of the yellow leaves are fresh on the ground and some still dangle from the massive trees above (can't believe I haven't done this one yet)
  • Bake one of those frivolously decadent Thanksgiving desserts out of Southern Living magazine
  • Start a daily devotional
  • Finish. A. Book. Seriously! When did I fall off the reading-actual-books-bandwagon?
  • Watch more old movies (thanks to Kelley, I've got a nice head start on this one!)
OK...this is just a start. I'll continue the list tomorrow as I'm sort of falling asleep as a type here, and my brain's just not clicking. I've added to this list mentally for more than a week now, and I know I'm forgetting several. Until then, goodbye October. It's been fun and festive!

Love that you are watching old movies! My mom and I did this together a few years ago when I was in a "transitional" period in my life and needed company. We printed out a "Top 100 Movies of All Time" and went down the list. There were some I'd never seen but heard of, and others I just hadn't seen in a long time. Dr.Zhivago was amazing (although it doesn't seem to be on the list!). Citizen Kane was a nice surprise and one I'd see again, others like Apocalyse Now and A Streetcar Named Desire are classics but I wouldn't necessarily watch again. We watched all the Godfathers, I actually think #2 is the best one. What I like about the older movies, many in B&W, is that the cinemotography is simple. Not 3D overload and action like movies these days. Have we seen Some Like It Hot together? It's one of my favorite movies of all time. Tony Curtis (RIP!) and Jack Lemmon are brilliant, and Marilyn is her usual adorable self. I also didn't see Life is Beautiful (Italian version, not dubbed) on many lists but should be a classic for sure. Maybe its not old enough (I think 2006?) but its very moving in a less graphic way than Schinlder's List. You know me and Kelley are all about the WWII movies! Let me know when we can get together sometime and watch a classic, there are still many movies I need to see. :)
